What is a Lubricant expected to do?
Reduce Friction, minimize wear, cool parts, prevent corrosion, disperse combustible parts (e.i. soot), act as a sealant, and transmit power.


What does SAE stand for?
Society of Automotive Engineers

What does ISO VG stand for?
International Standards Organization; Viscosity Grades

What is viscosity and how is it important?
Viscosity is the measure of an oil’s resistance to flow.


How is viscosity measured?

In cSt (Centistokes) and SUS (Saybolt Universal Seconds). Using two measures of temperature (Fahrenheit and Celsius) at either 40 C (104 F) or 100 C (212 F)
